Point (dot) maps place markers at geographic coordinates to show where specific items or events are located. They are ideal for visualizing discrete locations on any world or regional map.
This sample maps airplane crashes worldwide from 1970 to 2009 using five marker series color-coded by fatality count (10–50 up to 200+). A legend identifies each severity bracket, while rich HTML tooltips reveal date, operator, location, fatalities, and summary for every incident. Zoom controls allow closer inspection of dense regions.
Follow the step-by-step Dot Map Tutorial to learn how such maps are built. See the Dot Map documentation for all configuration options.
