Step Line Chart represents a set of points connected by horizontal and vertical lines only. This type of data visualization is generally used to display how a variable changes over time (Cartesian graphs) or just along the X-axis (Scatter charts).

A step-like look, inherently typical for Step Line Charts, makes this chart type a good data visualization form to emphasize the leaps in transition from one value to another as well as irregularity of changes.
