The Parabolic SAR (Stop and Reverse) is a trend-following indicator that places dots above or below price to signal potential reversal points. When dots flip from above to below the price, a buy signal is generated, and vice versa — making PSAR a popular tool for setting trailing stop-loss levels during trending markets.
This sample overlays PSAR dots on CSCO daily OHLC data using an acceleration factor start of 0.03, increment of 0.03, and maximum of 0.3. The indicator is rendered as small square markers (size 1) on the main plot alongside the price series. The chart features dual Y-axes, a synchronized line scroller, a range picker, and a range selector, with the default view from July 2003 to March 2006.
