Bollinger Bands Width measures the distance between the upper and lower Bollinger Bands. It narrows during low-volatility squeezes and widens during high-volatility expansions, making it a useful gauge for anticipating breakouts.
This sample shows CSCO candlestick data with Bollinger Bands (period 20, deviation 3) on the main plot and the Bands Width indicator as a spline-area series in a 30% height subplot, styled with an orange (#F18126) stroke and a lightened fill. Both major and minor grid lines are enabled for precise reading. The chart includes a synchronized spline scroller, a range picker, and a range selector, with the default view from June 2001 to September 2002.
