StepLine Charts are a kind of Line Charts and it suits representing the same type of data that simple line charts are intended for, but it does not use the shortest way to get from one point to another. Only vertical and horizontal lines are used to connect the points, so the points don’t actually look as points, but as horizontal lines of the length of one category on the x-axis.
This Step Line chart shows the statistics of customers’ comments collected on a company site. There are three series: one for grateful reviews, second for neutral ones and the last for disgruntled comments. Each series is colored differently; the legend is enabled, so the legend can be used to switch series on/off or hover them. The categories shown along the horizontal X axis are months; vertical Y axis holds the number of comments. Vertical crosshair enabled, so you can see where the points belong to one month. There is a tooltip shown after the crosshair with month as a title and numbers of reviews along the Y axis.
