In 2006 to 2014, there was a\u00a0strong correlation between the number of opioid prescriptions issued by a doctor and the rank of the medical school\u00a0the doctor had been trained at.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking about this study and its conclusions, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/blogs\/graphicdetail\/2017\/08\/daily-chart-15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Economist shared<\/a> a spline and marker combination chart that clearly shows the link.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure\u00a0to not miss out\u00a0on the smaller marker\u00a0chart\u00a0to the right because it nicely illustrates another peculiar fact: Foreign-trained doctors prescribed fewer opioids\u00a0than even Harvard Medical School graduates.
